Glazed interior, unglazed exterior - the bottom ring is the saucer in both sizes.

Chen and Kai say these are inspired by high voltage ceramic insulators found on power lines - I'm getting more of a marshmello/70's ribbed couch/michelin man vibe - but I think this is really a "yes, and" situation.
