This box is handmade in Yokohama, Japan. This work is made using a hammer - a practice known as Tsuiki. In Japanese, “tsuiki,” is the art of using a metal hammer (tsui) to raise (ki) a sheet of copper metal. It is an ancient craft - one that elevates everyday objects, in turn elevating every day.
Materials: uncoated brass (some natural patina will develop with use - it will be nice!)
